Numeric Metrics & Quantity Units

The analysis view lets you switch between three metrics: Value, Quantity, and Unit Price.

  • Value (¥1,000): The monetary value of import/export transactions, displayed in thousands of yen (¥1,000 units).
  • Quantity: The transaction quantity. Units vary by product (HS code) and are defined by the Ministry of Finance based on the nature of each commodity. For example: automobiles use "units," grains and legumes use "T (tons)," clothing and textiles use "KG (kilograms)," petroleum products use "KL (kiloliters)," and integrated circuits use "pieces."
  • Unit Price (¥/unit): The trade value per quantity unit, calculated as Value ÷ Quantity. Because units differ by product, use caution when directly comparing unit prices across different products.

When you switch products in the analysis view, the quantity and unit price units update accordingly. You can also find each product's quantity unit on its HS code detail page.
